Discovery Prep expects students to demonstrate a
mastery of all the project skills and academic skills.
Project skills will be assessed through different
benchmarks at specifically assigned times during
the project. At the end of each project the solution
will be implemented by the students. A presentation
to parents and community members will be required
where the community members, made up of parents,
business leaders, church officials, etc will help
to grade the final product.
Students will demonstrate their academic skills
by taking teacher designed exams, including unit,
mid term and Final exams. At designated periods during
the school year students will be given a standardized
test to demonstrate their mastery of the California
state standards covered to date, by the school administration.
This test will be used to assess and strengthen instruction
in the academic areas most needed by students. The
standardize test will include SAT, SAT II, AP, STAR
and other testing formats.
All Students must fulfill both the UC/CSU entrance
requirements and the CA State Graduation requirements.
All students must take the ACT or SAT reasoning test
and 2 SAT subject tests.
Students are also required to complete at least
200 hrs of Service Learning and to complete one Summer
Institute. To guarantee that all the requirements
are met, College Counselors are assigned to both
the student and the parent.
To ensure true academic excellence continues to thrive,
it is our policy that Credits will not be given to
students who score below a “C” grade.
