Discovery Prep Admissions

It is a choice to attend Discovery Prep. The choice you make when you decide to attend the school is to work hard and prepare to go the country's top universities and colleges. Wanting to work hard and go to a top college or university is the only requirement needed to attend the school. There are certain steps you must follow in order to attend Discovery Prep.

Please review the following conditions and contact the office if you have any questions.

Admissions Procedures

Fill out a space request form.
This can be obtained in the main office. Each space request will have a receipt that should be kept in a safe place as proof that a space request has been filled out. If a space request is lost by the school, only the receipt will prove that the space request was obtained.

Check Discovery Prep's website
(www.discoveryprep.org) once a week to find out when and where the first meeting is going to be held, or call the school at 818 897 1187.

Come to the first meeting.
At the meeting, Discovery Prep will hold a lottery to determine who will be enrolled at the school. This is the case for all grade levels. Once a student is enrolled, parents must attend all mandatory meetings and meet enrolled requirements. If parents do not come to a meeting or fail to meet enrollment requirements, their child will be taken off the enrolled list and added to the waiting list.

Once all student enrollment numbers are met, students will be placed on a waiting list. When seats become available for new students, Discovery Prep will randomly select students from the waiting list. In order to enroll from the waiting list, parents must have come to and continue to come to all mandatory meetings and meet all enrollment requirements.

If you are called off the waiting list during the school year, students and parents must be at Discovery Prep the following school day with all paper work finished and have come to all mandatory summer meetings and met all enrollment requirements. Students who cannot attend the next school day will be passed over and the next person who can start school the next school day will be admitted to Discovery Prep.

All returning students need to give the school a signed commitment card stating that they will be attending Discovery Prep the following year. If students or parents do not turn in their commitment card by the assigned deadline, that student will not be guaranteed a place at the school.
